Two people have been charged with premeditated first-degree murder following a fatal assault at a liquor store on March 10. The incident involved an argument that escalated into a violent attack, leading to the death of 30-year-old Cordell Harris.
The Fatal Incident
The altercation occurred just before midnight on March 10, when 31-year-old Bernice Shaneka Chenevert and 30-year-old Cordell Harris got into a heated argument at a local liquor store. According to reports, Chenevert handed a broken bottle to 54-year-old Steven Lewis Hooks, who then allegedly used it to stab Harris multiple times in the neck.
Harris’ Death
Harris was rushed to the hospital following the attack, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries. His death has been confirmed as a result of the stabbing.
Arrest and Charges
Both Chenevert and Hooks were charged with premeditated first-degree murder and were arraigned on March 13. They are currently being held in jail without bond. The two will face a probable cause conference on March 23, as reported by WJBK.
Potential Penalties
If convicted, both Chenevert and Hooks could face life in prison for their roles in the fatal assault.
