A Massachusetts man is facing charges of aggravated battery after an altercation with his friend during a bachelor party in Miami Beach, which ended in both men suffering stab wounds. Olajuwon Dickerson, 32, allegedly attacked his friend after a confrontation over women at local bars.
The Bachelor Party That Took a Violent Turn
Olajuwon Dickerson and his friends traveled to Miami Beach to celebrate a bachelor party, staying together at an Airbnb in the Miami Gardens area. The group met several women at bars on Ocean Drive, but tensions quickly escalated when the victim became upset after the women paid more attention to Dickerson.
Argument Leads to Confrontation
The situation took a dramatic turn after leaving the bars, when the victim confronted Dickerson over the women getting into a car with Dickerson and one of the other men. The victim allegedly argued with Dickerson, which led to Dickerson exiting the car and approaching him. As the argument intensified, the situation turned violent.
The Stabbing Incident
According to witnesses, after Dickerson approached the victim and told him to get out of the car, blood was soon visible. The victim reportedly realized he had been stabbed in the abdomen and, in fear of further attack, defended himself. In the ensuing struggle, Dickerson was also stabbed, sustaining an injury to his arm.
Self-Defense and the Knife
The affidavit states that while witnesses attempted to assist Dickerson and stop his bleeding, one of them said that Dickerson handed them a bloodied folding knife. Police later recovered the knife but Dickerson denied using it during the altercation or being involved in any fight with the victim.
Dickerson’s Defense and Arrest
During questioning, Dickerson allegedly told police that he had no recollection of the events after leaving the bar. He also denied any altercation with the victim. Dickerson was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and has been ordered to have no further contact with the victim. He is currently being held without bond.
