It’s been an exciting week for the Oklahoma Sooners on the recruiting trail, especially after the success they had last week in landing six highly coveted players from the Class of 2027.
Though Oklahoma hasn’t added any new commitments in the past seven days, the impact of their “Future Freaks” junior day event continues to resonate as they distance themselves from other teams near the top of the rankings.
Bode Sparrow: A Top Target for the Sooners
One of the standout names following the event is wide receiver Bode Sparrow. According to Rivals’ Greg Biggins, Sparrow is “super high” on Oklahoma after his visit to Norman last weekend.
Sparrow, a consensus 4-star and top-100 player in the Class of 2027, currently ranks as the No. 66 overall prospect and the No. 3 athlete in the class, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.
Sparrow, a native of Kaysville, UT, put up impressive stats as a junior at Davis High School in 2025, catching 83 passes for 1,218 yards and 16 touchdowns. With offers from major programs like Texas A&M, Texas, Michigan, BYU, Nebraska, and Oregon, his interest in Oklahoma is a significant development for the Sooners.
Myles Smith: Edge Rusher Impresses at Junior Day
Another recruit who made a big impression during the “Future Freaks” event was edge rusher Myles Smith. According to Rivals’ Allen Trieu, Smith expressed that Oklahoma “set the bar high” in terms of his recruitment. Standing at 6-5 and weighing 215 pounds, Smith is the No. 216 overall prospect and the No. 22 edge rusher in the 2027 class, according to 247Sports.
In his junior season at Farmington High School in 2025, Smith registered 85 total tackles, including 43 solo tackles, 13 tackles for loss, six sacks, four forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. Smith earned Michigan All-State honors for his impressive performance. He also has visits planned to Nebraska, Missouri, Ohio State, Kentucky, and Cal.
Elijah Brown: Defensive Line Target
Oklahoma is continuing to bolster its defensive line for the Class of 2027. Elijah Brown, a 4-star recruit listed at 6-4 and 285 pounds, will take an unofficial visit to Norman on April 18.
Brown hails from Prattville, AL, and ranks highly in the 247Sports composite rankings. Along with his visit to Oklahoma, Brown will also visit Auburn, Kentucky, Georgia Tech, and Michigan this spring.
Oklahoma has already secured commitments from three Alabama-based players in the Class of 2027: safety Jaylen Scott, quarterback Jamison Roberts, and wide receiver Tra’Von Hall.
Israel Samuel: Oklahoma Targets the Class of 2028
In addition to their success with the Class of 2027, Oklahoma is also looking ahead to future classes, as evidenced by their recent offer to linebacker Israel Samuel from the Class of 2028.
Samuel, who stands at 6-3 and weighs 195 pounds, is currently unranked but has already earned offers from top programs like Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor, SMU, and Wake Forest. Samuel earned Second Team All-District honors as a sophomore at Lake Highlands High School in 2025.
