An 18-year-old woman in Tennessee has been charged with murder after police say she shot a man multiple times following allegations made by a young child relative. Authorities say the shooting happened in Memphis and involved two firearms, leading to several serious criminal charges.
The case has drawn attention because of the circumstances surrounding the motive and the suspect’s statements to investigators.
Tennessee Woman Charged With First-Degree Murder
Authorities have identified the suspect as 18-year-old Alishon Torres. According to court records, she faces several charges, including:
- First-degree murder
- Possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony
- Tampering with or fabricating evidence
Torres was arrested and booked into the Shelby County Jail on Friday. She appeared in court for her arraignment on Monday.
Victim Identified as 58-Year-Old Man
Family members identified the victim as 58-year-old Noe Santillan Rincon.
According to reports, Rincon had been staying at the home of Torres’ mother prior to the shooting.
Authorities say the incident occurred in the early hours of February 26.
Events Leading Up to the Shooting
Investigators say Torres’ mother saw Rincon inside the home around 1 a.m. that morning. He was reportedly preparing food, including milk and rice, for the children and grandchildren in the household.
Shortly after that moment, Torres’ mother began receiving phone calls and text messages from Rincon’s phone. However, it was Torres who was speaking.
Police say Torres later encountered Rincon while he was walking along Willowview Avenue in Memphis.
Confrontation Over Allegations
According to investigators, Torres confronted Rincon about a disturbing accusation involving a young child.
Torres allegedly told police that three or four weeks earlier, a 5-year-old relative informed her that Rincon had inappropriately touched her.
Authorities say Torres asked to borrow Rincon’s phone and then confronted him about the allegation before the shooting occurred.
Victim Shot 14 Times
Police say Torres fired 14 shots at Rincon using two different firearms.
Investigators reported that the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including a fatal shot to the head.
A Memphis Police Department officer patrolling the area around Willowview Avenue discovered Rincon’s body at approximately 2 a.m.
Suspect Allegedly Confessed to Police
During questioning, Torres allegedly admitted to officers that she was responsible for the shooting.
Police say that while she was being arrested, a .40-caliber Beretta pistol fell out of her purse.
Authorities reported that the firearm did not have a serial number.
Torres allegedly told investigators that the Beretta was one of the two weapons she used in the shooting.
She also claimed she either sold or gave away the second firearm.
Evidence Tampering Allegations
Investigators say Torres admitted to shooting Rincon inside a van.
According to police, she allegedly repainted the vehicle afterward and abandoned it at an apartment complex in an attempt to hide evidence connected to the crime.
These actions led to the additional charge of tampering with or fabricating evidence.
Court Proceedings and Upcoming Hearings
Torres remains in custody as the legal process continues.
She is scheduled to appear in court for a bond hearing on Wednesday.
Another court appearance in the case is set for March 16, when the case will continue moving through the judicial system.
