A Florida man has been arrested after allegedly killing his wife in a violent incident that left their home covered in blood. The suspect later claimed that some of the injuries may have been related to what he described as “rough sex,” according to investigators.

Florida Man Charged With Wife’s Murder After Bloody Incident

Bradly Shawn Shadduck, 56, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of his wife, Lynne Alane Shadduck, 62. The incident took place at the couple’s home on Maracaibo Lane in Cudjoe Key, located in the lower Florida Keys.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the residence shortly before 6 a.m. on Thursday after a neighbour called 911. The call was reportedly made after Bradly Shadduck appeared at the neighbour’s door naked except for a Cleveland Browns blanket and asked him to contact emergency services.

The neighbour told dispatchers that Shadduck claimed his entire house was covered in blood.

Crime Scene Described as Horrific

When deputies arrived, they found the home in complete disarray. Investigators reported broken objects scattered throughout the residence along with blood stains, blood smears, and large pools of blood on the floor.

Authorities found Bradly Shadduck naked and wrapped in a blanket. His wife was discovered lying unconscious in a hallway, covered in blood and bruises. Although she was still breathing when first responders arrived, she was later pronounced dead at Lower Keys Medical Center.

Suspect Claims Memory Loss After Drinking

During initial questioning, Shadduck allegedly provided very little information and repeatedly stated that his wife needed medical help.

Later, while speaking with detectives, he reportedly said that he and his wife had spent the previous evening eating and drinking at a restaurant. He claimed the condition of the house was the result of “rough sex.”

Investigators said Shadduck also stated that he often blacks out when drinking alcohol and could not remember what happened during the night. He allegedly could not recall going to a neighbour’s house for help before requesting a lawyer.

Surveillance Footage Raises Questions

Authorities reviewed surveillance footage that allegedly showed Shadduck visiting a neighbour’s home to ask for help. Investigators noted that he appeared wet, leading them to believe he may have taken a shower before seeking assistance.

Another surveillance video reportedly captured him at a different neighbour’s property around 4 a.m. In the footage, he is seen shirtless and wearing light-coloured shorts while attempting to enter a passcode at the front door. After failing to gain entry, he allegedly banged on doors and windows and shook a railing.

Investigators later found bloody handprints on the railing.

Evidence Suggests Violent Struggle

A search warrant was later executed at the couple’s home. Investigators reported finding blood throughout the property, including the living room, hallway, bathroom, and shower area.

According to the arrest report, blood smears in the hallway suggested the victim may have been dragged toward the bathroom. Detectives also noted signs of a significant struggle inside the residence.

The deputy handling the case stated that evidence pointed to a violent confrontation and struggle involving the victim. Investigators also noted that Bradly Shadduck did not appear to have any significant injuries.

Suspect Remains in Custody

Court records show that Bradly Shadduck has a history of boating and traffic-related violations but no major criminal record in Monroe County.

He is currently being held without bond at the Monroe County Detention Center. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 5.
