An Oklahoma man has been arrested following an undercover child exploitation investigation led by Louisiana authorities. Officials say the suspect believed he was communicating online with a 15-year-old child, but was actually speaking with law enforcement during a targeted operation.
Undercover Operation in Baton Rouge
According to the Louisiana State Police (LSP), detectives from the Special Victims Unit teamed up with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Baton Rouge office in January 2026. The investigation focused on individuals using social media apps to sexually exploit minors.
Authorities identified the suspect as Jason Edgar Daniel, 40, from Oklahoma.
Investigators said Daniel engaged in sexually explicit conversations with someone he believed to be a 15-year-old child. However, the account was part of an undercover law enforcement operation.
Charges Filed Against the Suspect
Louisiana authorities obtained warrants charging Daniel with:
- Indecent behavior with juveniles
- Attempted production of child sexual abuse material
- Computer-aided solicitation of a minor
On May 18, FBI agents in Oklahoma arrested Daniel based on the Louisiana warrants.
After his arrest, police said Daniel admitted to having child sexual abuse material on his cellphone.
Extradition to Louisiana
Daniel is currently awaiting extradition to Louisiana. Once transferred, he will be held at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
Officials say the investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges could be possible depending on further evidence.
