A 32-year-old man from Oklahoma City has been sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison for a violent armed robbery that left a woman beaten and threatened at gunpoint.
Details of the Robbery
On March 18, 2025, Oklahoma City police responded to reports of an armed robbery at an apartment in the metro area. The victim told officers that three people forced their way into her home after knocking on the door.
During the incident, 32-year-old Chanse Treyvon Burge held a gun to the woman’s head while the other two suspects searched the apartment. Burge also threatened to shoot her and hit her repeatedly on the head with the firearm before the group ran away.
Arrest and Charges
Police later found Burge at a nearby hotel, where he was inside a vehicle. They arrested him and recovered a firearm.
On May 6, 2025, a federal grand jury indicted Burge for being a felon in possession of a firearm. He later pleaded guilty on September 26, 2025, admitting he had the firearm despite previous felony convictions.
Sentencing
On May 18, 2026, a U.S. District Judge sentenced Burge to 137 months in federal prison, which is about 11 years and 5 months. He will also serve three years of supervised release after completing his prison term.
Criminal History
Burge has a long criminal record, including:
- Possession of a stolen vehicle
- Possession of a firearm after juvenile adjudication
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of firearms after conviction or during probation
- Felon in possession of a firearm
- Obstructing an officer
The sentence reflects the seriousness of his crime and his repeated run-ins with the law. This case highlights the dangers of armed robberies and the strict consequences for repeat offenders.
Burge’s long criminal history and violent actions during the robbery contributed to the lengthy federal prison sentence. It also serves as a reminder for communities to stay alert and for authorities to enforce strict measures against gun crimes.
