According to police, a trans woman on Long Island is accused of intimidating and harassing a police officer's wife

A Long Island woman has been arrested for allegedly harassing the family of a Suffolk County police officer who arrested her last year.

Woman Arrested for Harassing Cop’s Family

Beatrix Lacroix, 31, from Deer Park, reportedly made a threatening phone call to the wife of the officer who arrested her after a car crash on October 23. The crash had left Lacroix facing 12 charges, including speeding and running stop signs, according to Suffolk County Police.

Authorities said Lacroix also sent a text suggesting she knew where the officer lived. Investigators found photos of his home on her phone, indicating a pattern of intimidation.

Charges and Court Appearance

Two days after the alleged May 16 phone call, Lacroix was arrested and charged with second-degree aggravated harassment. She was arraigned on May 19 at First District Court in Central Islip. A future court date has been set, and an order of protection has been granted to the officer’s family.

Police Response

Suffolk County Police Commissioner Kevin Catalina said, “We expect our officers to carry out their duties professionally and without fear that arrests made in the line of duty will lead to intimidation, harassment, or retaliation against them or their families. Attempts to infiltrate or target the personal lives of our officers are unacceptable.”

Lou Civello, President of the Suffolk County Police Benevolent Association, called the case “chilling,” noting that officers’ families should feel safe in their own homes. He stressed the need for tougher laws to prosecute such crimes and prevent them from happening.

This case highlights the serious consequences of threatening law enforcement officers and their families and underscores the importance of protecting their safety.
