An Oklahoma man has been arrested after investigators say he ran over his wife with a pickup truck, killing her along a rural roadway in Ottawa County.
Terry Grant, 56, has been charged with one count of manslaughter in the death of his wife, Cassandra Grant, 55, according to the Ottawa County District Attorney’s Office.
The investigation began Monday after authorities responded to what was initially reported as a suspicious death near East 111 Road in Miami, a small northeastern Oklahoma community near the Missouri border.

911 Call Reported Woman Found Dead in Roadway
According to investigators, Terry Grant called 911 Monday morning claiming he discovered his wife deceased in the roadway near their property.
Deputies with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and found Cassandra Grant lying in the road.

He claimed he returned home around 6 p.m. and stayed inside the residence for the remainder of the evening until discovering Cassandra’s body the next morning.
Grant allegedly told investigators he did not know where his wife had gone before he left the home.
However, investigators say he later made a statement acknowledging he might have accidentally run her over without realizing it.
According to the affidavit, Grant allegedly told authorities that “if he did run over Cassandra, he might not have known it because of the condition of the vehicle and the unevenness of the roadway.”
Neighbor Provided Investigators With Additional Details
Authorities also interviewed a nearby neighbor who reportedly last saw Cassandra alive around 5 p.m. the night before her body was discovered.
According to investigators, Cassandra went to the neighbor’s home asking for a ride.
The neighbor allegedly described her as appearing intoxicated and said she was frequently under the influence when visiting his residence.
After leaving the neighbor’s property, Cassandra reportedly walked back toward Terry Grant’s home alone.
The neighbor also told investigators that very few vehicles travel the private roadway besides his own vehicle and Terry Grant’s truck because the road only serves their properties.
Additionally, the neighbor claimed he had not driven on the roadway for several days before Cassandra’s body was discovered.

Investigators later gathered additional evidence through city surveillance technology.
According to authorities, Flock license plate reader cameras captured Terry Grant’s truck roughly 10 miles away from his home at approximately 5:52 p.m. the night before Cassandra’s death.
Investigators also alleged that Grant was seen later that evening at a Mexican restaurant in Miami.

Investigators also found clumps of hair near Cassandra’s body that appeared to have been torn from her head during the incident.
Terry Grant Turned Himself In
After the investigation progressed, authorities issued a $100,000 warrant for Terry Grant’s arrest.
Jail records show he turned himself in to deputies late Wednesday morning.
He now faces a manslaughter charge as the investigation continues.
